NEIGHBORHOOD HEROES

Oshkosh Healthy Neighborhoods introduced a new program in 2023 that aims to celebrate the unsung heroes that make our neighborhoods an extra special place to live, work and play.

Our 3rd Annual awards will be announced on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Celebrating Oshkosh Neighborhoods Hero Event.

WHO IS A NEIGHBORHOOD HERO?

A Neighborhood Hero is someone who goes above and beyond in all that they do, who makes a positive difference, and who might be going unrecognized for all of their care and hard work. Eligible nominees are those who live in a recognized City of Oshkosh Neighborhood Association or community organizations who contribute to our success. The following award descriptions may describe your hero.

Good Neighbor Hero:

An individual who reaches out to support a neighbor(s) in need or someone who shows great pride in their property and therefore contributes to the beauty of your neighborhood and our city.

Neighborhood Volunteer Hero:

An individual whose passion, skills and gifts are shared willingly in s volunteer or leadership role and has made a positive, real difference in the health and vitality of your neighborhood.

Neighborhood Support Hero:

An organization, business or partner who has provided your neighborhood association with resources to support your mission in bringing people together to create a safe, active and connected community.

Neighborhood Youth Hero:

An individual who is improving their community through service to others and making a positive difference with acts of kindness and transformative neighborhood development.

HOW DO I NOMINATE A NEIGHBORHOOD HERO?

Complete and submit the NEIGHBORHOOD HERO NOMINATION FORM by September 1, 2024. Take your time to provide complete information (at least 2 paragraphs) about your nominee. Include descriptive information about their effort and evidence of impact on your neighborhood or an individual member. You are invited to also include photos, testimonials, and/or stories.
